Let’s go back to Germany for a moment.
The country is a box of history – some incredible and some horrible.
Anyway, as a lover of the past, I couldn’t fail to visit a concentration camp up close.
During my days in Berlin, I decided to check SACHSENHAUSEN – it’s around 1h30 by train… The entrance is for free, because they can’t charge you for anything that is associated with the holocaust.
OBS: you can check all my trip there here
Recommendation: they have an amazing audio guide in all languages. The value is 4 euros and is worth it. In addition to conducting your visit around the place (which is HUGE), you’ll be able to hear testimonials and understand the history in a deep deep deep way.
The video is in Portuguese, but, I can summarize for you what I saw and felt visiting Sachsenhausen:
HORROR
FEAR
SADNESS
I think we all know what happened there.
But seeing and hearing was certainly one of the most intense moments of my life.
I don’t know how to define what I felt … it’s a horror.
Anyway, I would like to end this post with some quote that I heard from a local guide:
we must remember so that this doesn’t happen again.
